Ranch Chex mix is perfect for snacking and easy enough for the kids to be involved in helping each in each step. They will love sharing this holiday treat with friends and family!

Memories at our house are made of our favorite tastes of the season. Although it seems like other traditions come and go, the holidays absolutely would not be the same without making our favorite recipes. Growing up there were a few things we always made. We always made lots of cookies and had our favorite recipes for them. We also made chocolate covered peanut butter sandwich crackers. It sounds strange, but trust me the sweet and salty combo is amazing. And somewhere around when I was in junior high I would guess, we decided to make Cheesy Ranch Chex Mix once. It was an instant hit and a permanent staple in our holiday treat making repertoire.
Even though I have my own kids and some blended traditions from my husband’s and my family, the Cheesy Ranch Chex Mix is still engrained in our holiday traditions. It is actually one of the first things we make each year because, not only do we snack on it all season long, it makes the perfect snack to bring out when all of the holiday company stops by, you need something quick and easy to bring to a party, or to wrap up for a friend or teacher.
What I have grown to love about it as a mom making it with my children is that the recipe is only 6 ingredients and so simple that my little helpers get to be involved in every step along the way! It is the perfect recipe for kids to help with. There is no oven and just a few measure and pour ingredients. Pop it in the microwave, give it a stir, and perfectly seasoned snack mix is ready to go.
My kids are super into helping with anything and everything and were already chomping at the bit to get started on it! I really do let them help with everything. One of their favorite things is each getting a different variety of Chex and both pouring them in at the same time. It looks some kind of crazy like this usually.
I have raved about how simple this is to make, but for good reason! Just pour the Chex, pretzels and cheese crackers into a very large bowl, stir the melted butter in, then mix the ranch seasoning and cheese in and mix it until everything is evenly coated. Pop it in the microwave, give it a stir and let it cool down. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of ranch and full of rich cheesy flavors, this snack couldn’t be more perfect in my book!
You can store it in ziplock bags and it will stay fresh for a week or so, or if you want to eat it all throughout the season (like me) you can put it into the freezer and take it out to serve as needed. We love to have a bowl out on the counter and always grab it when company comes by. Also, the kids have already been asking if we can put some in jars and take it to the neighbors! They are so generous, while I have to admit, I sometimes want to keep all of this stuff for myself!

This looks delicious. I think I might make it to take as a hostess gift over Thanksgiving. I was just thinking about what to bring this morning..
