Baby Must Have- Video monitor with split screen. If you plan on having more than one kid, you will want to see both of them on a monitor so this is a great pick!

When new moms-to-be ask me what they really need, or what to absolutely register for, I always tell them the same thing!  A video monitor!  It is without a doubt one of the things that has been most used, the most loved, and given me the most peace of mind throughout having 3 kids!

What’s the big deal with a video monitor you ask?  Well, if you are like me, then once the baby comes, you are going to worry a lot.  I always wanted to make sure I was feeding him at the right time, helping him get on a healthy schedule, and if he slept a minute longer than normal, I was absolutely convinced he wasn’t breathing anymore.  If he woke up crying I had a million questions going through my head!  Is he hot?  Cold? Does he have gas?  Is he hungry?  Did he get an arm or leg stuck in the railing? So many questions, worries, and things to keep track of, and quite a lot of them can be answered with a quick peek on your video monitor.

Instead of rushing in to the baby, or just laying awake at night in the few precious hours that you actually get to sleep thinking about all of these things, I would just take a quick peek on my monitor and know everything was okay and be able to let go of the worries and get more done.

As my family grew and changed so did my needs for a monitor.  Luckily, with the passing of time, technology has also gotten a lot more advanced!  The Levana Mylo has everything I wish I had from day one.  There are a lot of really awesome things about this monitor but I am going to share some of the most important things for me!

Levana Mylo Video Baby Monitor

Video Monitor Safety

First of all, I want to make sure it is all safe.  I don’t want the neighbors flipping channels and suddenly my sweet sleeping baby is on prime time!  The Levana Mylo has a encrypted digital proprietary signal and channel hopping ensure that your connection remains private.

Ease of Use

My first video monitor looked like a huge tube TV and took up half the nightstand for something that barely gave me a picture of my baby!  The Levana Mylo is a sleek, flat device that is a little bigger than my cell phone.  The screen is 5 inches which gives me the ability to see my baby in detail.

It is super easy to use.  The monitor will guide you through the set up as soon as you plug it in. Everything is straight forward and the touchscreen menu allows you to navigate quickly and easily to any function.  Adding cameras is simple!  Just touch add cameras on the menu then touch the add button on the camera you want to add. Even setting a timer or playing a lullaby is super simple using the menu!

I love that there are very few pieces too!  Just a camera for the room you are monitoring, and the monitor unit for you.  The camera plugs into the wall and the monitor charges with a mini-USB just like my phone!

Cool Stuff

The Mylo has no shortage of cool features, but there is one feature that was REALLY important to me as our family started to grow.  Before I had kids, I just imagined that once we had a second I would just use all the baby stuff from the first, and somehow that first baby would just be a big kid and not need any of it anymore.  Well, that worked for a few things but there are many it did not and the monitor was the biggest.  In our home the kids were on a different floor than the master bedroom and it might as well have been miles to me, so there was absolutely no way you would convince me that I was going to take the camera out of my son’s room to put it in my daughters when she was born.  This is my FAVORITE feature of the Mylo!  You can add up to 4 cameras on the monitor and have the screen split up to four ways so that you can monitor all of your littles at once.  That way if any of them wake or need you in the middle of the night, you will know right away!  Seriously awesome!!

Another thing I love is the temperature display right at the top of the screen.  I am constantly wondering if they wake when they aren’t supposed to, if their room is too hot or cold and if they are comfortable.  Since our house heats and cools differently in different rooms, and the sun and time of day can play a big factor in how the room feels, this really puts me at ease knowing that the temperature is just right for baby.

Another thing I love is the ability to set timers right in the monitor!  If you are breastfeeding or working with your baby to get on a good schedule these are super handy!  You can see how it works in my video below.

A few last fun features to point out are:

  • Talk button – allows you to talk to your baby through the microphone
  • Night vision- allows you to still see your baby on the camera at night
  • Lullabies- Play songs or white noise just by touching a button on the monitor.  You can even set them on a timer to turn off!

Pretty awesome, right?!  If you are like me and covet this peace of mind, then learn more about the Levana on their Facebook page, or on the website.  Get all of the details on the Mylo monitor or PTZ camera here!

Toddler Super Food Muffin

Easy- Healthy - Tasty toddler super food muffins! These have 6 super foods in them and are dense rich and my kids LOVE them!

When you worry less about your baby, it gives you more time to do all of those other things that have been sitting around on your list for well… forever!  I have been wanting to get around to this muffin recipe for quite awhile, and it has just been sitting on the back burner, but with the Levana Mylo at work with the nap timer set, I knew once I put my little one down, I could get started on these!

I feel like breakfast is sometimes a struggle.  Everyone is hungry right now and I am scrambling to get something healthy that they will love eating as quickly as I can.  My kids absolutely adore blueberries so I knew that is where I was going to start.  I wanted to pack as much healthy stuff in there as possible so I did a little research on Super Foods and managed to modify my muffin recipe to include 6 super foods!  Pretty amazing (but don’t tell the kids!)

My kids LOVE these Super Food muffins! The muffins make a great breakfast, snack, or even a great lunch box idea! THey are packed with healthy foods and are still so dense, rich and moist!

The super foods you will find in these are-

  • Greek Yogurt- Greek yogurt is filled with protein and probiotics. which keeps you full, improves digestion, and helps boost the immune system.
  • Oatmeal – Oatmeal is high in fiber, antioxidants, and many of other nutrients packing a huge punch in a whole grain.
  • Cinnamon– Known as one of the most nutrient dense spices, cinnamon is packed with calcium, manganese, and fiber.
  • Apples– Apples are packed with fiber and make a great low calorie, nutrient dense, source of nutrition.
  • Egg- Eggs are a great protein source loaded with nutrients. The are not only packed with protein, but omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for normal body function and heart health.
  • Blueberries- Blueberries are filled with fiber, vitamin C, and cancer-fighting compounds.  The bring quite the burst of nutrients in a little package!

Toddler Super Food Muffins. These make a great easy breakfast idea or snack for baby! You can feel good about what you are feeding your kids and they will think it is a treat to eat!

I bet you didn’t know all of that!!  I know I didn’t before I got those few extra minutes!  These muffins are packed with healthy ingredients, and are dense, rich, and anything but dry and crumbly.  Sometimes when oatmeal is a main ingredient things don’t hold together as well as you would like, but these have a great texture!

Best of all once you make a batch you can eat them fresh out of the oven, then freeze the rest and reheat them for a quick and easy breakfast, or healthy snack.

I wish I could get more sleep and I wish I could get more just one on one time with each of the kids!

  2. Kate Zost says

I wish I had a little more time with my hubby! Just to hang out, have a non-rushed conversation and maybe a romantic date! Having a second kiddo has been a game changer. Between the baby and the 2 year old it sometimes feels like 2 ships in the night. We always joke around that we’ll meet up again when we’re almost 50!

  3. Lisa Gonzalez says

We have 4 kids and both work for time outside the home. I wish my husband and i could spend more time on vacation.
