What is the Image Effect Panel in Silhouette Studio?
As designed in Silhouette Studio, Image Effect is altering or changing the images you have imported, filled with gradient or pattern. You can change the color by adding more of a grey shade, brightness, saturation, contrast, tint or add a sepia color. There is a lot of different things you can do with this panel to play around with your color. I will go over what each of them mean.
How do I use the Image Effect Panel?
Once you have decided what image you want to move and selected your fill color.. whether it is a filled pattern or an imported picture now it is time to figure out what image effect you want on your design.
- Grey Shade- The first tab of the Image Effect panel is changing the color to have more or less grey tone.
- Hue- The second tab of the Image Effect panel is Hue. This will change the color of your image.
- Contrast, Brightness, and Saturation- The third tab of the Image Effect panel will allow you to adjust the contrast, brightness and saturation of your design.
- Gamma- The fourth tab of the Image Effect panel is Gamma. This controls how dark and light your image is. Your design can appear darker and pronounced or slightly there.
- Invert- The fifth tab of the Image Effect panel is Invert. This feature will allow you to completely change the color to the total opposite color in the color wheel.
- Sepia- The sixth tab of the Image Effect panel is a feature you can use to give your design a Sepia tone.
- Tint- The seventh tab of the Image Effect panel is tint. Tint controls how much of the colors red, green or blue you want in your image.
- Shadow- The eight tab of the Image Effect panel is the shadow feature. This feature allows you to put a shadow around your image. You can adjust the size of the offset of your shadow and cut around your shadow.
Where do I find the Image Effect Panel in Silhouette Studio?
You can access the Image Effect panel in a few different locations.
- Right hand side of the screen, Image Effect Icon ( Half filled in circle), click on it and you will find the Image Effect feature.
- In the top menu, click panels, select Image Effect, and here you will find the Image Effect panel.
Example of using the Image Effect Panel:
I opened up three hearts from Silhouette Design. The top pink heart is changed from bright pink to a grey tone. I used the grey feature to alter the color. The Purple Heart with polka dots in the middle was changed using the sepia tab. The rainbow heart at the bottom know has a shadow around the bottom and I removed the red and added more green and blue using the tint tab.
When to use the Image Effect Panel:
Something to always remember with Image Effect panel is it will not work on images filled in using the Fill Color feature.
That’s all I have for you this week. Tune in next week to our last bootcamp post. We will go over all the Software Editions in Silhouette Studio. Thanks for sticking around with me on this journey.

I sure have enjoyed these lessons and I’m so SAD that there going to end next week! Would you consider doing a video from the beginning of a Print and Cut project to the very end? Most of the videos I’ve found so far will jump around and leave certain steps out as though everybody should know what they did.

I will add that to my list for you. Thank you for your kind words.
