Best Gift Ideas for a 2 year old Boy
Pretend Play
My little guy’s favorite toy in this category was the workbench. What I love about the workbench is that he can pretend he is working right along side his dad. When my husband is busy doing a project my little guy is right long side of him using his tools too.
He also really loved the shopping cart and would load it up and push it around our house. The shopping cart is great for all ages and genders. My kids load up the car with food, toys, cars, or whatever they can find.

- Simplay3 Play Around Kitchen– My kids are getting older but I still find them using their play kitchen a few times a week. It really sparks their pretend side of their mind and they come up with all sorts of scenarios to play. I know this feels like an expensive gift but it will last a long time and get lots of use.
Animals
What I love about play animals is they grow with your child. Every time we move to a new place these animals are the first things I put away, because they always get played with. I find the older they get the more elaborate the stories with the animals become. My kids start to build different worlds or neighborhoods that the animals live in. The animals become part of their super hero stories or they fight Jedi’s. Whatever they feel like imagining that day the animals are usually involved.
- Boley Educational Dinosaur Toys– My little guy loves taking these dinosaurs everywhere he goes. I find them stuffed in his backpack for school or his shirt pocket after church.
- Animals Figure Set, 54 pieces
- Ocean Sea Animals– These are great bath toys that don’t hold water and mold. My little guy loves to take this in the shower as well. They dry off quickly.
- Blue Horse Hopper– I find this a great inexpensive gift that everyone seems to love. My little guy had this at his preschool and it was the prized toy and super fun to ride. It’s a great gift below $20.
- Fisher Price Animal Rescue Set

Trucks & Cars
CARS CARS CARS is on every little boys mind. I love little boys and their love for anything on wheels. It seems to start at a very young age and it never leaves them. Cars, trucks and airplanes are great toys for all ages. My little guy developed a love for airplanes at a very young age and now he’s 6 and still loves everything about them.
The sorting garages are a great toy in that it teaches your little guy how to sort and put things away properly. I taught this to my kids at a young age, and now when I ask them to clean up the playroom they do it correctly.
Some of our other favorites in this section are the Loader Toy and the GAmzoo Tracks.

Building Sets
It’s a great idea to start little minds off early using their creative part of their brain. From a young age my little guy started his love for building and it has never stopped. I truly love Lego’s. I love that they can build with instructions in front of them or create something all on their own. I know stepping on the lego’s is not fun but if you can find a way to keep them off the floor like a lego desk or a play table, you will enjoy them being around too.
- Plan Toys Block Set– You will not find this a worthless buy. These blocks will last you a lifetime and your kids will never stop building with them.

I know its young to start electronics but there are so many new and fun educational programs out for toddlers. Learning to navigate an iPad or use certain apps is good for them as well. We have a lot of different educational game that my kids practice on a regular basis. Also a lot of schools are moving towards iPads or computers for kids to practice reading and math skills.

Outdoor Play
My little guy’s biggest obsession when he was 2 was going down slides. We loved these little playset with slides just the right size for toddlers. I also love how versatile these toys are in that you can keep them outside or inside. This slide is just big enough that your little shouldn’t hurt himself and can climb up and down.
I also really enjoy the waterpark. I usually fill mine with sand on one side and water on the other. My little guy would play with this toy for hours. He was fascinated by the water cascading through the toys making them twirl. It was a great way to cool him off without having to set up a swimming pool, and this fits on your deck in the shade.
- Balance Bike– You little guy is going to think he is a super hero when he gets this. After using it for a few months he is going to be a pro. The great thing about balance bikes is it eliminates the need for training wheels. Your child will usually transition form balance bike to big boy bike with no training wheels needed because they have already learned to balance. This is also a great BIG present … if grandparents are looking for a great gift.
