Homemade Monster Corn

Ingredients

  • 6 quarts air popped popcorn
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 package Jello - color an flavor of your choice
  • 1 package candy eyes

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 225 degrees F
  • Air pop your popcorn
  • Heat butter, sugar, and kayro syrup in a large pot on high until boiling and continue to boil for 3 minutes.
  • In a small bowl mix the Jello and baking soda.
  • Once the sugar mixture is finished boiling remove it from heat and mix in the Jello mixture.
  • If you want the color to be darker or a different hue, mix in food coloring of your choice.
  • Now mix as much of your popcorn as will fit into the sugar-Jello mixture.
  • Pour the mixture onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. and put it in the oven for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, stir the popcorn and repeat one more time.
  • once you remove the popcorn from the oven the second time you will mix in your candy eyes t the popcorn mixture and stir.
  • Let the popcorn cool for around 45 min- 1 hour then break it up and serve.
