10 Great Places to Find Free SVG Files + Sale and Promo Code

Nothing is better than free right?  This post is full of places that offer fantastic FREE SVG CUT FILES for Silhouette and Cricut crafting machines.

Where to find FREE SVG files for Silhouette Cameo

So I am super excited to share a new Silhouette sale and promo code with you today, but first I have to share something new I learned.  Since I upgraded to my new Silhouette Cameo a few months ago, I have continued to find more and more new and exciting things that my machine can do.  Most recently, I discovered .svg files!  Are you using these with your Cameo yet?

SVG files are a type of graphic file that many {and I mean MANY} great designers out there use to create awesome designs you can use with your Silhouette.  All of these designers are out there channeling all of this great creativity into cute things for you to cut and the best part is that there are tons of these .svg files available for FREE!

.SVG files can be a great resource to build your library of artwork and designs without ever spending a penny!  But here is the catch.  In order to use all of these wonderful .svg files with your Silhouette you need to have upgraded to the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software.  This software does many things I will discuss more below, but two of the most useful are allowing you to import .svg files into your software and also save them into your library alongside the purchases you make at the Silhouette Store.  You can see a video on exactly how to do that here.

So now that you know all these awesome new free resources exist, where exactly do you find these free .svg files?  I have you covered with a list of 10 great places to grab some great freebies for your Silhouette.  There is everything from die cuts, to cupcake wrappers, to tags, doilies, and even seasonal decor.  Check them out, and feel free to leave a comment if you know of any other great resources I didn’t list.

Check out this chart below to see all the details on how the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software compares to the free Silhouette Studio you get with your machine.

Thanks for the list of svg file sources! I think the number of free svg files available out there helps the designer edition pay for itself so quickly! I rarely pay for shapes these days because I am able to find what I want in my growing file of freebies. I didn’t see miss kate on the list, and she releases a new freebie daily! http://www.misskatecuttables.com

Thank you for the resources! I love the files on KLDezign, but I can’t figure out how to download. When I click on the link to download, it redirects me to 4share. When I try to download from there, it doesn’t work. Has anyone had any luck and if so, can you help? Thank you!!

I’m not sure… since I have a Silhouette CAMEO , I don’t know the ins and outs of the scan n cut. You will want to look and see if you can open an SVG file with your machine

[…] 3.  SVG Cut Files– Outside of buying directly from Silhouette, you can buy SVG files from everywhere from Etsy to private websites that open up a whole new world of designs for you to cut with your machine.  If you aren’t familiar with it, an SVG is a universal file type that is recognized by the Silhouette software (when you have the Designer Edition upgrade.)  All you have to do is save the SVG, open it in Silhouette Studio, then select cut edge in the cut settings window and the design already has the cut lines defined with no tracing at all.  Since .studio files outside of the Silhouette website, this is how all 3rd party designers can create and sell beautiful files for you to use with your machine.  We have our own store where we sell SVG files of everything from cute phrases, to hand lettered designs and even holiday and monogram designs.  We would love for you to check it out and I hope you love what you see!  Also, here is a great resource on places to find free SVG cut files.
