Yes you CAN take a vacation! How to save money on vacation this year!

With summer just around the corner, it probably means you are planning a summer vacation. Whether you are visiting Disney World or heading to the beach, a summer vacation is something that many people look forward to all year round. What they don’t look forward to is the money they will spend!

After you pay the bill for booking your trip, you often forget about the money you will spend while you are on vacation. If you do a little planning, you can get away with saving and not stressing over your bank account.

1. Pack Snacks.
Food is the number one thing that most people spend their money on while on vacation. By packing snacks, you eliminate your impulse buys, especially when every one is really hungry.

2. Skip the ATMs.
ATM fees really rack up and the fees tend to be higher in tourist areas. Instead, withdrawl your money at the bank before you leave for your summer vacation.

3. Unplug.
Before you leave, make sure you unplug all non-essential appliances in your home. Also, turn off the AC and close the blinds. Your electric bill will thank you and so will your wallet. No need in wasting energy when you aren’t home to use it!

4. Search Groupon for Local Attraction Deals.
Do a search on Groupon for deals on local attractions near your destination. You may find discounted admission to a museum, theme park, or tours. You may even find a good deal on parking if you are headed to a major city and will have to pay for parking in a garage.

5. Stay at a hotel with free breakfast.
This has been a real money saver for us when we travel. Knowing that breakfast is covered eliminates one meal each day that we don’t have to pay for.

6. Get a AAA membership.
AAA is for more than just road-side assitance. You will find a lot of discounts in their member center. From air fair to hotels to rental cars, AAA members are eligible for some pretty heavy discounts. A membership is well-worth the up front cost.
