My little guy loves to play outside, he is mildly obsessed with Phineas and Ferb, and is really good at doing puzzles, but he really loves nothing better right now than helping me in the kitchen! Â Since we had some extra donuts laying around from the last fun Easter treat we made, I thought we could have a fun afternoon making some fun,festive and super kid friendly Easter treats: Peeps Birds Nests!
Don’t they look so happy? Â Like the little Peeps have just been waiting for us to make them a home.
Making Peeps Birds Nests are the perfect Easter activity to do with the kids. Â It is bright colorful and fun, .simple to make, only takes a few ingredients and is perfect for little helping hands. Â A little white chocolate, a bit of brightly colored coconut, throw in a few peeps and a couple of powdered donuts and you have the makings of a great {and delicious} afternoon with the kids!
What you need:
- 5 Powdered Donuts
- 5 Peeps
- 2 oz White Chocolate, melted
- 1/2 cup brightly colored coconut flakes {to see how to dye coconut, check out this post}
Super simple, as promised, first melt your white chocolate in the microwave by heating it for 30 second increments and stirring in between until it is smooth and melted.
Dip the donut into the chocolate and then into the coconut to coat the top of the donut and make the next for our little Peep.
Next dip the bottom of the Peep into the chocolate and then set the Peep right on top of your donut nest.
Doesn’t our little Peep look like he is in heaven swimming in a pool of white chocolate? Â If only I could…. never mind! Â Anyway, the little donut nest makes a perfect little home for the Peep, and it is something little hands will have so much fun preparing all by themselves!
These were fun for us to eat, but also fun to bring down the street to deliver to our friends too! Â Make sure and make enough to share!
