Roses are red, violets are blue….

And we love you! Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day or do you consider it just another Hallmark holiday? For me personally, it’s just another hallmark holiday. Although, I do like to have a little pink floating around my house this time of year. I love having an excuse to redecorate! Now that I have littles, I think I will “celebrate” the day a little more. Whether that be with heart pancakes or a new book, who knows. Only time will tell. We’d love to hear what you do!

Before I get to our freebie below. Here’s a funny story – Back in 2006, my now husband and I had talked about how silly we think Valentine’s is. I stressed how stupid I thought it was. I mean, flowers die and chocolate makes you fat (that hasn’t ever actually kept me from eating chocolate though). Then, I was sitting at my desk at work on February 14, 2006 watching all of the ladies in my department receive their beautiful bouquets of flowers. I was SO SAD. I mean, like really really sad. I felt so unloved. I kept reminding myself that it was ME who said “flowers die”. Blah blah blah. Like I need flowers to show everyone that I am loved. Pssssshhh.

Well, I called my then boyfriend later that night and told him how sad it made me feel. I seriously felt like such a dork. As bad as he felt, there was a side of him that didn’t get it. Perhaps it’s because he is a man? I explained a little more by saying “it would be like not having cake on your birthday. You don’t have to get me a present, but a cake would be nice…or no fireworks on the 4th of July. You HAVE to have fireworks, right? No green on St. Patricks day? Am I making any sense, dear sweet boyfriend….?”

Moral of the story – If I ever have a job again where people see the flowers that are coming in – buy me some.
