Crock Pot Chicken Tostada Recipe
My crockpot is one of my favorite things in the kitchen. I use it all the time to cook. I love it because on busy nights when my kiddos have activities, I can have dinner cooking while we are gone. Those busy weeknights become a little less busy when dinner is being prepared in the crockpot.
I also love my crockpot because it has the ability to cook larger amounts of meat for meals throughout the week. You can use the chicken the first night, freeze some, and use it for meals during the week. Sometimes the hardest part of the meal is the protein, but if the meat is already cooked, meals become A LOT easier to prepare.

How to Serve Crockpot Chicken Tostadas
I’m not sure about you, but we love to do taco’s on Tuesday. I started this tradition a while ago and my kids love it. They look forward to Tuesdays because … who doesn’t love taco’s.
To serve these I like to set everything out on the table and let everyone make their own so they get exactly what they want. As a bonus, my kids eat better when they have a hand in making their meal.

How to Make Chicken Tostadas
These delicious chicken tostadas are super easy to make, thanks to my crockpot. Lay your chicken breast in the slow cooker, cover a can of green chiles and all other spices, cover and place on high for 2.5 hours. Once that time is up, shred your chicken with two forks or your hand mixer, place the cream cheese on top and cover, cook on high for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, mix everything together and serve!
Now the chicken is ready, you can start to build your tostadas.

Yes you can! Keep the meat and tostada shells separately. You can keep the meat in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to a month.

The meat is naturally gluten free. If you are buying store bought tostada shells, just make sure you check the label to ensure they are gluten free.

You could make the shredded chicken without adding the cream cheese to make the meat dairy free and use a dairy free shell and toppings.
Can I freeze the meat?
You can freeze the meat before or after cooking. They can freeze in an air tight container for up to 1 month.
Where to Find Tostada Shells?
If you’ve never head of tostadas, I’m sure you are wondering… where do I find these shells? My kids love tostada shells and ask for them in place of taco shells frequently.
Where to find Tostada Shells at the Grocery Store?
You can find tostada shells at most major grocery stores. I find them in the International/Mexican foods isle. They are usually located next to the normal taco shells. Tostada shells are round and crispy, almost like a big tortilla chip.
