I recently read that there are only 940 weekends from the time your child is born until the time they turn 18. I think this was meant to pack a punch and it sure did for me.
I began to think about how the days can be long but at the same time the moments are fleeting. I cannot say that I will be able to make the most of every single moment because I am not perfect, I have a smartphone that I lose myself in, I don’t always have quite enough patience as is required for that day, and sometimes I just don’t get enough sleep to be as happy as I want. BUT, reflecting on this I realized there are things I want to do for my kids every day. And if at some point over the course of a day I can spend a few minutes here and there to achieve these I think my kids will look back and know that I loved them and cherished them. I believe they will think of those 18 years with a sense of fondness, and even though, by that point they will have long ago figured out my imperfections, I might just be the perfect mom in their eyes.
10 Things I want to do for my kids each and every day
- Tell them “I love you”
- Make them laugh
- Encourage them on something they are good at
- Give them a hug
- Compliment them on something
- Challenge them to get better at something they are working on
- Be empathetic to their feelings
- Have patience
- Spend at least a few minutes with my attention solely on each kid
- Do something with them… not just with them there, but engaged together.
What so you think? How do you make the most of such little time?

I love this list. I need to work on #8 each and every minute of the day.

Girl, you are not alone! I try my hardest, but that is exactly why #8 made the list… I need a reminder how important it is!

I love this list! When I saw the title, I was afraid it was going to be a “You’ll never actually be able to do this and so you’ll feel like a worse mom” kind of thing. But I can definitely do all of these things every day!
Stopping by from SITS. 🙂

Thank you so much Bethany! One thing is for sure… I am no super mom. Parenting has enough challenges as it is so I just like to try to do things the easy way and keep more smiles than tears on our faces 🙂

This is a great list! I hope that I am already doing most of these, but I’d like to be more purposeful about it. Thanks for the reminder!
Kimber says
Me too Rabia! I try to remember but often forget. All we can do is our best 🙂

It’s amazing how a day can pass and #10 can slip through my fingers! It’s good to be reminded to be intentional about it!

I know right?! I wrote this post awhile ago now and I see how much I have forgotten each time I go back and read it!

This is a great list! I copied it and will hang it in my rooms to remind me to try to do these everyday. My youngest is 16 but these still apply.

Fabulous list! I do many of these things already, but I don’t always do them daily or in abundance. And I only have one kid! Thank you for sharing and reminding me that time flies. Happy SITS Day!

Love this list! I printed it and put it in my planner to remind me. Sometimes the day gets away from me and when the kids are being horrible, these things tend to get forgotten. It’s those days when I should really focus on these things to help calm down the chaos and turn things around. Thank you for the list and the reminder. Happy SITS Day!
