I am always looking for ideas for fun activities for my preschooler. They are in a phase where they are endlessly curious, independent and have a beautiful imagination. They want to be like the big kids but aren’t always quite there! And at this incredibly special stage of life, there is nothing my preschooler loves more than being silly.
When we were on vacation we got a kid’s meal at Chick-fil-a. The toy they had in the meal was a Mad-Libs. This blast from the past brought back so many fun memories and I was so excited to try this activity with my preschooler! He loves stories and was really excited too! We tried to make it work… we really did, but trying to explain what an adjective, noun and verb ending in ing were to my barely 3 year old was truly a fruitless effort. He could easily come up with simpler things like body part, color and animals though and regardless of the not quite getting it, he became obsessed with Mad Libs!
With this new obsession, I decided to create him some of his own preschool appropriate Mad Libs style stories that we could do together. It was a huge hit. He loved the silly stories and we had so much fun coming up with the words to fill in the blanks! And what better to fill your time with than a fun, creative, and even educational activity! Since so many of our readers have small children like us, I thought I had to share!
