This post is sponsored by our personal favorite way to listen to audiobooks, Audible. Â We are honored to work with them to tell you all about our favorite audiobooks to read as a family!
Tales As Old As Time
You know those stories you remember from your childhood? Â The ones that made up the fabric of being a kid. Â The ones that pushed you to imagine and taught you to dream. Â Those that made you laugh, and those took you away from the weight of the day and let you escape into another world? Â Those classic books are a huge part of being a kid!
Use Your Imagination
Watching a movie is fun, but we all know that reading the book is always better. Â There are so many great opportunities to get kids into a great story with audiobooks. Â Listening to audiobooks has been great for our kids because when they are younger and learning to read, it can sometimes be exhausting for them to try so hard to actually sound out and read the words and then also keep up with the plot, characters, and what is happening at any time.
Audiobooks give kids the ability to listen to the story, many times just as it is written, and use their imagination to create the scenes they are hearing. Â They can take in the book in a whole new, easy to understand way, and then when they go back to paper it is so much less frustrating for them to read and comprehend the story.

Turn “Slush” Time Into Fun Time
I love that audiobooks have given us a way to turn all of that “slush time” running errands and to activities into something we can do together. Â We find books together, listen together, and we love to talk about the book together. Â It really is the best for helping you to open up communication with your kiddos from a young age.
This list I made for you today is a BIG list of classic books that every kid should read. Â These are the ones that are tried and true and loved by many. Â We are using this as a kind of checklist of sorts, so feel free to do the same. Â If I missed any of your kids favorites PLEASE let me know in the comments so I can add it to our list too!
